Low self-esteem is a serious psychiatric condition and like all other mental conditions, it is difficult to diagnose because low self-esteem symptoms are not easy to identify, nevertheless it is a serious but common problem.
A person may not understand or realize that they are suffering from low self-esteem and this can cause harm in a variety of different ways. One of the biggest problems that people suffering from low self-esteem face is that lack confidence and therefore don`t achieve their full potential.
The person suffering from low self-esteem often tries to do things that will benefit him but his lack of belief in himself will cause him or her to fail.

Low self-esteem is a deep-rooted psychological problem. Persons suffering from this condition often show lack of initiative, have an inferiority complex, are unlikely to be ambitious and therefore tend to accept second best in life.
The problem which can lead to a mental breakdown is linked to various psychological factors in which trauma, parental neglect, lack of a healthy lifestyle, alcohol or drug abuse, among other factors, play an important role. - The person is not able to talk freely about his feelings and needs

- He does not feel he deserves much from life and is easily satisfied. He is unable to enter easily into a relationship.

A person with low self-esteems lack of confidence can lead to being bullied which means he will feel a greater loss of self-esteem that may lead to self-harming thereby creating a vicious circle.
A person with low self-esteem would try to do things to please someone more than is necessary. In most cases his magnanimity is not appreciated.
He has a negative perception about how people think. He thinks people are unlikely go to appreciate his efforts and so he thinks it’s better not to try at all.
